Niwaki & Cloud Pruning

Niwaki and cloud pruning is traditional Japanese artistic pruning — structural sculpting that turns a mature specimen into a living garden centrepiece. We restore neglected trees (including Japanese maples) by selecting a frame, thinning foliage into layered clouds, and maintaining the form over time.

This is not tree-lopping. Heavy, unskilled cuts destroy structure and value; patient, biological pruning builds it. For luxury residential clients and landscape designers, the right work can turn a neglected specimen into the focal point of the garden.
